This was accomplished using Dollar Tree items: mirror, glass vase, ribbon and silk flower. I used my Cricut machine to cut paper centerpieces that read “70 & Fabulous”. It doesn’t have to be expensive to be stylish.
The Ultimate Kids’ Birthday Party Checklist
I always go online and make a personalized invitation! This is free! All you have to do is Google “free online invitation” and you will get quite a few results. I always include the invite on the Facebook event page or text and/or message my guests.
Here are some pictures of the table setting. I always try to create the best table settings without breaking the bank. No need! I stocked up on dollar store chargers (the silver plates under the paper plates). It just gives the paper plate a wow factor on the table. I also always use plastic forks and knives and usually wash them and save them for the next party. I then purchased the paper plates, plastic tablecloths, napkins, table confetti for table display from Party City. Finally, I always buy a pack of table confetti, preferably with a party theme. I love sprinkling the confetti all over the table, it just adds a simple touch of decoration for very little cost.
When it comes to paper decorations, you really can’t beat the convenience and low cost of buying these paper kits from places like Party City (or any party supply store in your area). A pack of paper decorations goes a long way! If you need to stretch the budget even further, there is also a great selection at many of the Dollar Stores these days. I like to search the wedding section of the Dollar Tree for less expensive elegant paper products.

As for extra special touches, here are some ideas for you that I made for my mother-in-law. I found a gold glitter ‘A’ and thought it was a nice touch since her name is ‘Alicia’. I also found two 7-0 gold glitter numbers to decorate her gift table. I printed out a simple free Pinterest sign and put it in a frame I had around the house. I also used a cheap frame I had around the house and printed a picture of him as a young man and put it in the frame for the table. At the end of the party I gave it to him along with the letter “A”.
I found a pillow in my house and decided to make her a fun pillow with my Cricut machine and Cricut Easy Press! So much fun and cheap and easy and she loved her pillow!
I like cooking! I usually make cupcakes for the occasion because they are quick and easy. Check out my blog on how I make my own cupcakes!

To make cupcake toppers, I went to Google and found 70 free patterns that I could clip into my Cricut to make toppers for her cupcakes. I used heavy cardstock and hot glued the tops to cake pop sticks that you can find at your local craft store. Dress up cupcakes for very little expense.
I used this little vintage tea cart to use as a cupcake table. Easy decoration with table confetti. I also bought an inexpensive picture frame and put in a photo of the birthday girl which adds a personal touch to the table. I also like to take ribbons I have on hand to decorate the cake server and cupcake display.
I had a very simple vanilla cake made with plain white fondant and silver confetti placed in the pattern on the fondant. Very simple, elegant and cheap. To dress the cake, I cut a glitter cake pop on my Cricut using a pattern I bought from Etsy and simply hot glued it to a stick and stuck it to the center of the cake. I also had a nice cake stand that I keep on hand for my parties. Here you are! Beautiful!

I usually always get out my pretty glass measuring cup and fill it with some kind of juice or punch and I always decorate it with a simple ribbon and cut it out, which I do with my Cricut. As simple and cheap as I got the ribbon from the dollar tree and had spare cardboard on hand.
I also found this cute blank sign at Party City and cut the same design on my Cricut with some gold vinyl I had on hand. He made a nice sign on the table.
The party turned out beautiful and elegant and I managed to stay on a very tight budget. I hope you enjoyed my tips for decorating my 70th birthday party! Photographer: Phillip Van Nostrand Photography | developer: Victoria Dubin Events | event planning: Ed Libby & Company | Venue: Edison Ballroom
