Children’s Christmas Table Decorations To Make – Christmas is a time for family and celebration. There is a great opportunity to establish family traditions that will be enjoyed and remembered for years to come.

Last year, I teamed up with BIG W on the run-up to Christmas to share tons of tips on how to make it special, including outdoor Christmas ideas and simple Christmas table ideas.

I’m working with BIG W again, and this year I wanted to share with you how to make a super easy, cheap, and fun Christmas table especially for kids.

This time of year is busy, so I wanted to design a setup that was fun and functional, but also achievable. One of the things I love about BIG W is the variety, and I can get everything I need from there at once, from gifts to items to create this kid’s table. BIG W has a huge online store, a BIG W Christmas Gift store, and of course the regular stores are a must-visit, so there are plenty of options.

I love the way this project came about and it’s really, really easy. The best things about this table setting are: It’s kid-friendly, it’s open to many creative ideas, and cleanup is easy.

This setup is affordable. Most of the BIG W items were under $20.

Do you still have loose magazines? You can easily make table pieces out of it and you just need to paint. I folded the magazine into the shape of a tree (full instructions on how to do this can be found here: Magazine Christmas Tree), sprayed it with paint, and let it dry before adding a simple pom pom to the top.

When I set the table, I put a container of pom poms on the table for the kids to decorate the tree themselves as an activity (I used craft glue; use any age-appropriate glue for the kids).

I bought a wide roll of brown kraft paper from BIG W for $4.00. For most tables, you will need two lines of brown paper to cover the table. Tape the paper to the bottom of the table with masking tape and you’re done. The great thing about this is that you don’t have to take a shower, and it doesn’t matter if the kids make a mess all over the table…and it’s so much fun because kids can draw on it anywhere they want!

Another option I found on BIG W for a kid-friendly table is these colorful Christmas-themed paper tablecloths.

Once the paper has fallen off, it’s a matter of putting everything on it: the magazine, the Christmas trees in the middle, the plates, the cups, the straws, etc.

Another activity idea for kids is to let them decorate their own placemats. Use thick cardstock for the placemats or laminate them in advance (if you laminate them, the kids will only need to use the stickers to decorate).

I used ribbons around small boxes to place in the center of the table and filled one with glue and pom poms to decorate the tree, and the other with stickers and painting tools for the placemat (and table).

After you set the table, draw some cute things on the table with a permanent marker. Here are some fun quick ideas:
