Coffee Table Decorations For Christmas – Every year I get a lot of questions about farmhouse Christmas decorations. People want to know how I organize my decorations, why I’m moving to a neutral palette, and where I get the pieces I use to decorate my farmhouse Christmas.

I know it’s hard to think of Christmas in October. So I usually don’t. Still, I never posted this first post about farmhouse Christmas decorations. However, I feel that this year is different (in more ways than one). I think you agree. So, I threw all the rules about not talking about Christmas in October out the window. Heaven knows, if there’s any year to do it, this is it!

The question of how I organize my Christmas decorations every year is easy to answer. I didn’t. Every Christmas I get so excited to take the basket out of the oven. Delving into the carefully curated collection brings back many fond memories. My collection of Christmas ornaments gives me the feeling of Christmas at the farmhouse every year.

I’ll admit, there was one Christmas when I lost myself and got away from what I wanted when decorating for the holidays. I find myself following trends instead of my heart when it comes to Christmas decorations. The result was a beautiful home decorated for Christmas that didn’t feel like ours. My best advice for decorating at Christmas (or any time of the year): follow your heart. Dress in what you like and what makes you feel good in it.

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about people wanting to decorate early for Christmas. I think this year many of us are looking forward to experiencing the excitement that comes with the holidays earlier than usual. Let’s face it 2020 has been tough! More than any year before, it seems this year people are ready to celebrate the beauty, magic, and warmth that the Christmas season brings. I said, “Do what makes you happy and happy.”

I am a person who does not like to rush things and likes to live in the moment. However, I have to admit that this is the first year that I feel like I want to dress up for Christmas earlier than in previous years. Maybe I’m craving a Christmas memory too. Or, it could be that I’m tired of being at home most of the year and I’m ready to busy myself and decorate the hall quickly.

For whatever reason, I’ve decided that this year I’m going to post the Christmas decorations in the farm earlier than usual. With more people shopping online, I’m afraid that if I wait to share, you won’t be able to find many of the pieces I like and use at the farm because things sell out before they do.

I told you how I put together my Christmas decorations…I didn’t. The next question I get asked this time of year is, why am I decorating in neutral colors for Christmas?

The simple answer is, “Because it’s easy!” Every year I start the Christmas season with a neutral palette of white, cream, wood and green. A good start with a neutral palette is that some years (when the spirit moves me) I enjoy adding red, gold, or plum. With a neutral base, it’s easy to add pops of color and you’re not making a big commitment to color. I’m afraid to go big because I never know how I’ll feel about it from one year to the next.

I find that every year the Christmas decorations are a little different from the previous year. The reason for the strategic changes every year is not clear to me. However, I love to see where my aesthetic heart takes me each new season. The neutral variation makes small changes to your Christmas decorations easy and makes it more affordable year round.

“Where do you get your Christmas decorations?” As I mentioned before, I don’t buy new ones every year. Fortunately, some pieces are timeless. Finding timeless jewelry is always my goal when shopping at Christmas and throughout the year. Sometimes, I hold on to things for so long that when I need to find them, they are not available.

So, today I’m going to share some of the same Christmas decorations that I have in our house and if the original pieces aren’t here, I have a lot of them.

Let’s start with everyone’s favorite, the Christmas tree. It’s one of the first things you think about when it comes to Christmas decorations and it’s sure to add a lot of Christmas magic to your home.

I really like the look of the Noble Fir Christmas tree. Our largest tree in the family room is a nine foot tall pine. It’s tall and wonderful and it literally paints the perfect picture of Christmas in our house. I used to use tree skirts under our tree, until last year when I fell in love with the farmhouse tree nuts. A solid wood log is the perfect farmhouse touch for our tree.

What’s a Christmas tree without decorations!? It’s just a tree. I usually decorate our big tree with white, cream, silver, wood and gold ornaments. I’m sticking to a neutral palette for our main tree because I like a dreamy and whimsical look. The neutral tree blends in perfectly with the windows, wreaths, and all the farmhouse Christmas decorations in our home.

A few years ago, I started using wooden beads on my trees. Raw wood beads add the perfect rustic touch and make a great filler if you’re short on jewelry. Last year was the first year (and it won’t be the last) that I used ribbon on my tree and I absolutely loved it. Ribbon is beautiful and works as a great filler for empty areas on a Christmas tree.

As much as I love our big tree, last year I fell in love with the easy to see Scandinavian Christmas tree (Balsam Fir). Full disclosure, I now have two balsam fir trees that I put in the farmhouse because I really like the look. I dress them up a bit and use a lot of lights on them. They are magical!

If you have been here and have been following me on Instagram for any length of time, you know that my love language is “holiday”. I’m all about making the farmhouse feel cozy and inviting all year round, but especially at Christmas time. I love using the fun Christmas stockings! These are the kind of socks we have at the farm. They are big, soft, and very tasty. I also found a comfortable sherpa alternative and a knit option that is a bit shorter. I love them all!

While we’re talking about comfort, let’s talk about pillows, blankets, and candles. There is nothing like writing and candlelight to add coziness and coziness to your home. Of course I have a goatee in the picture below and it definitely adds to the farmhouse feel, but you can still get the same look with some of the pieces I have in this post. However, I did not, today for you little goat. It’s hard to imagine that Holly will be a year old this Christmas!

It’s no secret, I have a passion for sheets and not just during the holidays. At any time of the year, you can visit the farmhouse and find at least three sheets in our house. I love texture, touches of color, and the comfort they add to a home. Wreaths are a great way to celebrate the season, whether on the door frame, on the ribbon on the window, or behind the chair on the dining room table… you can imagine Christmas on the farm. I have mine. ? ! (Side note: This might be a good idea for the family this year!)

During Christmas, I also like to decorate with ornaments. Fresh leaves, fake leaves, wooden ornaments, or bells, garlands always have a place in our farmhouse Christmas decorations. I use it on the front porch rail, kitchen ceiling, and around the door, just to name a few places. It adds a touch of Christmas cheer to any setting and makes the holiday season extra special.
