If you checked out my 2014 Vacation Home Tour , you may have noticed that I have a yarn thing this year. Since it was already spread throughout my vacation home, I decided to bring it to our holiday table too!

I placed them on a white cake stand and covered the base with my favorite bay leaf garland that I found at Pottery Barn a few years ago.

For the place settings, I started with chalkboard rugs I found at Target and added my white criss-cross china. These dishes were a gift from my mom years ago and I love that they go with everything. I added a crisp white napkin to match the table cloth and added a gorgeous place card on top:

For the place card holders, I started with a chalkboard outfit cut from the chalkboard circles and wrote each person’s name using this chalk letter guide. I then made a DIY pom pom garland out of yarn and attached them to the white twine and through the loops of the board circle. I love the fun little pops of color they add to the table!

Shortly after our daughter Kate was born, we sold our formal dining room table and turned it into a play area, so now all of our eating takes place in our kitchen area. Here’s a full view of this space:

To the left of our table is an IKEA dresser that I “hacked” to turn into a kitchen side table. I decorated her head with family photos from past Christmases and a laurel wreath to match the centerpiece of the landscape. Finally, I gave the lights a temporary holiday touch by wrapping them in red cable knit scarves.
