Simple Formula For Dinner Table Setting At Any Occasion
The best reason to stick with white, gray, beige or black night is because it gives you the freedom to choose any color scheme you want for any occasion and any flower arrangement!
Maybe some will call neutral dishes “boring”, but by using it as a blank canvas, you have the ability to set the tone for any holiday in a simple table.
I love this polka dot dinnerware set that we’ve had for a few years. They are very strong (even with our kids kicking them), and since they are stones, we can put them right in the oven.

It’s easy to find neutral foods in the grocery store too (especially the precious and vintage varieties), so be on the lookout on your next grocery trip.
Add a sprig of rosemary, a handwritten place card, or a leaf to each place setting for a special holiday.
It’s definitely not something you do every day, but something small makes Thanksgiving, an anniversary, or a birthday feel extra special.
Floral Inspired Easter Table Decor
We took magnolia leaves from our yard last fall, rinsed them with water to put on each Thanksgiving, and our oldest daughter wrote names on them with a matching silver marker.
Our hydrangea bushes are always blooming this time of year! And I love that they are so easy to prepare with some greens in the mix. (Or you can dry hydrangeas for an easy fall dinner table.)
I just stick whatever flowers or fruit I can find in a neutral pot like this clear pedestal pot.
Wedding Table Decorations And Centrepiece Ideas
I like to pick some ginkgo berries from our ginkgo tree in the front yard when it turns bright yellow every fall.
Or skip the pot altogether and spread the greens directly on the table as a small dining room for the holidays.
Last fall, I cut some green leaves from the loropetalum bushes in our back yard and put them in some pears for an easy Thanksgiving centerpiece that anyone can put together themselves.
Beautiful Spring Centerpiece Ideas For Your Table
For Christmas, I cut hemlock and cedar branches to create a small Christmas centerpiece and added some dried orange slices along with the orange pomanders I made with the girls.
I added some juniper branches that I cut from a tree in the parking lot of our girls’ school (with permission, of course).
Just a pair of candles can make a simple dinner table setting come to life. There is something about the twinkling of light that makes a birthday or birthday dinner feel so magical.
Inspiring Christmas Decor Ideas To Elevate Your Dining Table
We play a little game at our house with our girls – when the candle on the table is lit, we play pranks and practice our table manners. (My parents and grandparents did the same thing with my brother and I growing up, and it’s one of my favorite memories.)
You don’t have to fill the center of the dining table with knick knacks or clutter the entire open space with jewelry.
Let the table “breathe” and instead keep the spaces in the middle open to make dishes or a charcuterie board.
Pastel Easter Table Decor Ideas
My favorite food dish is this acrylic 5-in-1 multifunctional Cake Dome that can be used as a cake stand, serving tray, chip & dip server, punch bowl, or serving bowl. And it works well outside because it is resistant.
I use this white leg vase around the house not only to serve food on the dining table but also as a fruit bowl in our kitchen or for growing white paper bulbs as a winter dinner table centerpiece.
This cutting board is the perfect size and shape to make a charcuterie board for 6. I can’t believe it’s from Walmart! It looks like it came from a high-end store.

We bust out this black plates or gold plates for setting the special dinner table to add a little punch of something beyond the usual silver.
That’s our dining room table decor layout! It’s a lot of small and simple details that add up to something special on the occasions we want to be excited about.
Although, don’t worry…most of the time, we’re eating messy tacos on paper plates. In case this post gives the impression that we eat “pinky up” meals by candlelight every day. 😉 Yes, no. That sounds exhausting.
Coffee Table Decor Ideas That Don’t Require A Home Stylist
But setting a special dinner table is always a good idea to put down the phones, turn off the electronics, and enjoy each other’s company. Setting the table this way encourages us to do this.

(Did I know what the word tablescape meant 10 years ago? Not sure. But it’s important to me now.)

Dining outdoors is one of the best parts of summer (and spring…and fall) so having the perfect al fresco setting is essential. Get some comfy chairs, or a cushioned bench, if you want to look like Camille Styles, and an outdoor blanket you don’t mind resting on, and you’re good to go.
Nothing says summer like fresh fruit, so why not decorate for your next sunny soiree with that? Pick up some juicy grapes, lemons, oranges, and anything else that’s sweet at the grocery store and use them to make centerpieces, decorate runners, and even decorate plates and items.

Coffee Table Decor
The holidays are all about food, drink and entertainment, so there’s no better time to make your table feel extra festive.
