Decoration Table Communion – This past weekend my daughter Maja celebrated her first communion day. A great thing in the Catholic faith!
As you may already know, I’m a huge DIYer, if there is such a thing, lol! As you can imagine I did EVERYTHING… a bit stressful since I had a little sinus infection last week, but thank goodness I did a lot of preparation 🙂
Decoration Table Communion
For those who want to try the DIY thing for an event like this, I would highly recommend getting an electronic cutting machine. My favorite machine is the Silhouette Cameo, but there are many others! My poor Cameo has been very useful these past few months in preparation for the big day.
Pink First Holy Communion Centrepiece Table Decoration
As you can see, apart from the cake, treats and roses, most of my table decorations are made of paper! All the files I used came from SVGCuts, I love that their files are so versatile! For those of you interested in the exact files I used, they will be listed throughout and at the end of this post 🙂
How do you like my ceiling decoration? Tulle, some balloons and a ball of tissue paper… Oh, and some flowers that I randomly attached to the ball. That’s it, THAT simple!!! I just used pins to hold the ends of the tulle up to the ceiling (when the ceiling is textured, the holes are barely visible). I had this on Monday night and the party was on Sunday, pretty much the whole week…even the balloons! Keep reading and I’ll even tell you my secret on how to keep them from blowing out!
How cool is this chalice? For those of you who are fans of SVG CutsFa, you may recognize the top as the teacup from the Tea For You and Me SVG set and the bottom as the lamp base from the Maison de Madeline SVG set! Clever, I know 😏
Décoration De Fête De Communion
(K, just ignore the little gem that fell off… I didn’t get it when I took the picture, dammit!) Anyway, back to the cross… It’s actually the letter “T” from 3D Letters SVG Kitplus iron cross from SVG collections of Christian elements. The tower? Yes, I’m Canadian!
Flowers were used everywhere! First I used them on this cute Topiary tree, then on the walls, and finally as little accents throughout… they sort of became a weed, lol. Same flower different sizes, different layers!
This perfect little book is where my daughter kept her memories of the day…it’s already stuck! Wish I had made it a little bigger!
Confirmation Communion Sweet Table
The invitations I made below I think have to be one of my favorite projects from the event. Simple and easy to make, especially when you have a bunch to make! Aren’t those the cutest pearl grapes ever?!

How cute are these little favor boxes?!? They are the perfect size for a small thank you that guests can take home.

See, I told you those flowers were everywhere! Weed, I tell you!!! They even came up to every pew down the aisle of the church (I didn’t get a single picture of them… “Ouch”… I’m kicking myself!)
Oh, oh, and here’s the cake! Isn’t that clean!?! And SO delicious! I tried to make it somewhat similar to my daughter’s dress… as much as I could!
OK! Are you ready for the SECRET to prevent balloons from deflating (well at least 1 week!) Scotch quick drying glue!!!
Cool Party Favors
While experimenting with how to cover the balloon with tulle, I had a light bulb moment! I knew they inject some kind of liquid into the balloons they fill up at parties to make them last longer, so I thought why not inject some glue on the end of the balloon (where you will tie the knot). Well, my idea worked and a few days later the balloons were still the same size, except for one balloon that I didn’t do my glue trick on, which all shrunk!
As promised for those of you who want to know how to recreate these paper projects, here is the recipe! Most of the files I used were not modified, only resized.
Here’s a picture of my little princess Maya, because that’s how she felt and acted all day! She even did the royal wave… SO funny!

Communion Cakes – A simple vanilla cake with white frosting is the perfect backdrop for a lime decoration. The tray used to hold the cookies really adds to the decor. If you can’t find a similar one, start with an inexpensive tray from your local grocery store and paint it gold. Michael’s craft store has spray paint in a variety of colors.
If you don’t have access to chalk decorations, I found some cute personalized cross themed cupcake toppers and wrappers. You may want to make your own by designing round stickers on the computer and attaching them to generic cupcakes.
Oreo Truffles – The white cookies shown on the stick shown below look so pretty with a ribbon tied around each one. They are placed in a transparent container and held by white stones. I’ve seen party hosts use pastel candies or M&M’s to hold cupcakes or other desserts on a stick.
