Diy Stone Table Decor

Diy Stone Table Decor – I am a fan of beautiful coffee table decorations! When I took a good look at the two coffee tables in my house, I realized that there are five decorating accessories that I always use and today I’m sharing each of these coffee table decorating ideas with you. I will do it!

I always use a large tray on my coffee tables. I always like how they keep everything organized and if you want to use the coffee table for playing games or setting up a food table, you can take everything off by simply lifting the tray. Trays are also a great way to add a contrasting texture or color to keep things interesting.

For our coffee table in the family room, I chose a large 28 inch square wooden tray that takes up a large portion of the coffee table but still leaves room for my husband to put his feet up next to it. Gotta do it – lol!) :

I had the hardest time finding a square tray with a large handle that I liked, but I was able to find the perfect tray on Etsy. The store where I bought it no longer exists, but you can find almost identical ones on the tray. They are offered in various colors in velvety matte or shiny. Such a large tray is expensive, but I will have it for years. I like that if I change the color scheme in the future, I can just repaint it instead of buying a new drawer.

I mostly use light textured trays on the ottoman/coffee table in the living room to add some shine and texture. My favorite is the good size and great price for such a large tray:

FYI, be sure to add felt pads to the bottom of the wicker trays to make sure they don’t scratch your coffee table! Here are a few more favorite coffee table trays that will work perfectly (

I use flowers and natural elements throughout my home because they connect life in a way that nothing else can so it’s no surprise that the coffee table is one of my favorite decorating ideas! In the summer, when tons of flowers bloom in our yard, I put small bouquets on the coffee table:

You can add even more life and personality to your flowers by placing them in something unique like my brass planter (you can find similar planters) that I’m obsessed with:

If you don’t have flowers to trim from your yard, pick up a $5 bunch of tulips at the grocery store or, for even less maintenance, plant a plant. This snake plant that was on the coffee table in our living room is the best—really unrecognizable:

And I love having a stack of books at the end of our coffee table – it’s another way to bring nature into this space.

There is no shame in lying! I recently bought a raspberry and it makes two of the cutest little arrangements:

And after I moved my snake plant, I use three of these fake eucalyptus branches we have on the ottoman in the living room:

You can also use other natural elements to add life – pinecones, feathers or ocean elements such as driftwood, seashells and a bowl of coral are just a few ideas. The best thing about natural elements is that there are so many right outside your door that you can find and use for free!

Books are one of my favorite ideas for decorating a coffee table. They’re great for adding a layered look and it’s nice to have some interesting coffee table books for your family and guests to pick up and read. Being a design lover, most of my (big surprises) are design oriented. Books about the area you live in, your favorite state or country to vacation in, or your favorite hobby are another great choice.

You might even consider downloading a bunch of your photos from your phone and computer onto one of them as well – those are future coffee table goals for me! And if you want to add a little color or pattern to your coffee table, an easy way to do it is to use scraps of your favorite fabric:

And if you’re a design enthusiast like me and looking for good coffee table books, here are some that have great content inside and look nice on the outside (

With some stacked books on the coffee table, I always add a book or two on top. It can be anything from a large gold iron bone (similar is available) that I used on my cloth bound book above to a decorative magnifying glass like this or a small piece of coral like:

Once you’ve got these basics, it’s time to have some fun and add a few interesting things of your choosing! For me, it’s often brass animals (#obsession) like this pair of brass cranes (available similar):

Earlier this spring, the wood surface of our Craigslist coffee table was a bit worn. I didn’t mind too much, but my husband Austin wanted to coat it with concrete to give it a different look. We sanded it and then filled it with concrete. It was not a great success. The next morning the sides had already broken away from the concrete top and it didn’t seem like a permanent solution. We removed the concrete layer and found that the wooden sapling had soaked in moisture from the concrete and now looks worse than ever. I’m sure we could have done more research and tried to do something specific, but it was such a disappointment that we just started looking for new coffee tables.

One thing we both really liked about our coffee table was the design of the legs. Instead of individual legs attached to brackets like most tables we saw in the 50s and 60s, this one had solid wooden legs that were bolted in the middle. When I started looking at replacement tables, I kept going back to what I already had. Austin had the great idea to go to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and see if there were any pieces of rock that could serve as a table replacement instead of buying a new coffee table.

Luckily, there were about 20 2 x 3 foot pieces of Sierra White granite that were just the right size and $40 each. The only problem was that they were all drilled with 2 inch holes for plumbing. Austin came up with a solution and we accepted it. This DIY project was much more doable for us than the concrete top and we completed it in less than an hour. I hope this project inspires you to reinvent pieces in your home!
