And I went straight to the styling. So I’m sharing 3 different looks using things I had around the house and some simple tips. (Post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)
I was able to use a bench from our bedroom and restore it in black faux leather to create this coffee table. It’s still soft enough to put on our feet, easy to clean and the perfect size. I was originally going to buy this black metal coffee table, but luckily I was able to use something we already had.

How To Decor A Coffee Table
Use books to create height and as a base for smaller objects. Coffee Table Books are beautiful and deserve to be displayed. I’ve rounded up some of my favorites in my Amazon store! In addition, they can be browsed for inspiration and are good conversation starters.
A simple tray or bowl adds a new shape, but can also make everyday things like remote controls and subs look pretty. Larger drawers can be used to hold candles and other decorative items without looking messy. And with everything on one tray, cleaning and dusting is easy.
Once the bases are in place, you can add decorations or candles. Groups of three work best, and you can also create variations in height with these objects. Lighting a candle is an instant comfort factor and smells good too. It feels a little fancy to relax on the couch and watch TV.

Remember that you don’t need to add large flowers, vases or large sculptures to create height and layers. It can still be kept minimal, simple and pretty. A few weeks ago I felt like rearranging our main living area by switching where the living room and dining room are currently located. If you are new here, our living/dining room is one large open space that also flows into the entrance hall and kitchen. Arranging furniture has always been a challenge for me with so many hallways and windows and so little wall space. I plan to write more blog posts about the new layout and design once I’m done with the space, and I hope you’re already following me on Instagram because I’ve been sharing a lot of progress, behind-the-scenes, and insights!
With the new furniture arrangement, I needed another coffee table because the DIY trunk I had used was just too long for the new layout. When I was shopping online, I asked my Instagram followers what coffee table to buy because I wanted to involve you in the process, and so many of you messaged me about how hard it is to find a coffee table that you love! Apparently I have the same problem as evidenced by the 900 different ones you’ve seen in my living room over the past almost 8 years.
, but I thought I’d round up all the coffee tables that caught my eye while shopping and put them together in one big curated collection in case you’re looking for a new coffee table too! I’ve seen each of these tables set up in my own home, and most of them are super affordable, with some unique showstoppers that make it worth the price. I found three dozen different coffee tables and I hope you find this guide helpful! Tell me your favorites in the comments!
