Red Holiday Coffee Mugs + Ugly Christmas Sweaters + Mariah Carey Trashing My Car. I mean who doesn’t love All I Want For Christmas?? The best Christmas song ever. I don’t really know what this season is about but everything makes me so happy.

Are people that…aggressive? I do all my Christmas shopping online. It’s the right way guys! I don’t know WHY anyone would need to go to malls when we have everything online.

Blue And Gold Christmas Decorations

Considering this is my FIRST Christmas at my new location I really wanted to keep things simple but obviously elegant.

I didn’t want it to look like Christmas was throwing up all over me. For one, I don’t have a lot of space. And second, less is more. I knew I obviously wanted a tree (a white mini). And I have a nice console that I wanted to decorate the crap with.

I had so many ideas for decorating console tables. The themes went through my head. But I thought, let’s continue with the classic and create a very simple white and silver table in winter style.

2. ASYMMETRY The trick to making asymmetry look good is balance. You don’t want the table to look the same on both sides, but visually you still want some balance. There are many ways to achieve this. Adding pops of color is one way. I’m not a color person so I kept the colors neutral. However, I used different shades of white, silver and gray.

3. CANDLES. I mean, do I need to say more? My last post was ALL about how much I love candles so naturally I used as many candles as I could fit when it came to decorating the table. White and silver of course.

4. PINEAPPLE. Another prop that screams Christmas. I found some white painted pinecones that were hanging at Homesense and wrapped them around everything on my table. Texture is very important, so look for things that will make your table stand out. Speaking of texture…

5. TEXTURE: sequins, faux fur, glitter, feathers, branches. Anything that adds something immediately catches the eye. I have pretty much all of the above on my desk, minus the faux fur. Texture is another great way to balance your table.

6. HEIGHT. Add different heights to your table. This goes hand in hand with the asymmetry point above. It’s another way to add visual appeal to your table. Instead of buying candles that are all the same height, buy a few different heights. I also bought sequin cones of different heights. It is attractive and visually appealing. You don’t want everything to be the same height. I added a vase with all sorts of random things from feathers to shiny silver twigs and leaves. They are all different heights.

7. BEAUTIFUL VS. WORKOUT There’s nothing practical on my desk. lol I have to admit I’m definitely not the most practical person in the world. So report me. If you can add practicality to your desk, by all means do it! I’d rather it be pretty. I’m not saying it can’t be both practical and pretty, but mine just isn’t. I filled my table with polar bears, pinecones, doves, poinsettias, tons of candles, and a useless (but SO cute) sign that said “I love you.”

8. LIGHTS You can’t call it Christmas if there are no lights. I’m right?! I bought a set of thin lights that I placed under the “snow” to illuminate the table. It just adds that extra Christmas feeling. The holidays can be stressful, we all know that. But I want to make this year a little less hectic. One strategy I try is to do all of our Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. I know, I know…some of you may hate this, but for me there’s something about completing this big task that makes me breathe a little easier. Here’s a look at our entry table, all decked out!

Another idea I had was to turn a chore like gift wrapping into a girls get together! Who doesn’t want to sip cocktails, snack on grass boards, listen to Christmas music and unpack their little heart?!? You can also let off some holiday steam by baking cookies, changing an ornament, or making “favorite things” by getting Santa dirty! Whatever the party, be sure to make time to see your girlfriends amid the hustle and bustle of the season.

I have another super simple yet elegant idea to serve your guests. Your recipes for these incredible cocktails! Start with these mason jars from Illumintaed Candle Bar! They come with all the ingredients to make your own liqueur! Just add 12 ounces of alcohol of your choice, let sit in the fridge for three days, then add to a blender. We tried two and both were delicious!

For the “Hot Toddy” glass, I added 12 ounces of bourbon and then mixed it with warm apple cider. Then I used gin for the Apricot Cranberry Smash and added Elderflower Tonic Water. This was my personal favorite but what can I say… I’m a gin guy! These were so easy and would make a perfect Christmas gift along with someone special’s favorite liquor.

Speaking of Christmas gifts, these linen cocktail napkins would make the perfect gift too. I love monogrammed homewares! It’s such a personal touch that makes me feel so stylish!

Yesterday the book club at my house. It was just the kick in the pants I needed to take down my Christmas decorations. To be honest, I didn’t do everything. My coat is only partially decorated and I have more work to do in the family room. But I checked in, so at least I have a nice area for us to enjoy. I love my entryway table, it’s so much fun to decorate!

All of the Christmas decorations are made from things I already had or bought really cheaply.

Rustic Christmas Trees

I bought the lamp ornaments at the thrift store for $1 and then added a red bow to the shade. I think green would probably look better but I didn’t have one so I won’t bother. 🙂

I bought the big candle last year after Christmas in the clearance sale. I just wrapped it in scrapbook paper and tied some burlap in the middle:

Diy Christmas Decorating Entry Table

I’m so excited for Christmas this year because it’s our daughter’s first Christmas! We already have many beautiful Christmas outfits for her; I can barely wait for it! I think I’ll have to jump on the Christmas decorations this year because now that we have a newborn in the house everything is taking about 10 times longer than it used to. So I went to our local At Home store and got everything I need to decorate our living room for Christmas. Ok, I haven’t had time to decorate the whole room yet, but I made a small entryway decoration, so today I’m sharing my easy Christmas entryway decoration.

I was very impressed with the Christmas decorations in the house; they had EVERYTHING! Half of the entire store was filled with Christmas decorations – from outdoor decorations and lights to tableware, Christmas trees and ornaments. And of course your everyday life
