Hannukah Decorations Table

Hannukah Decorations Table – Hello friends! Do you put out holiday decorations before or after Thanksgiving? If you couldn’t tell by the look of our formal dining room, I’m a group first. 🙋‍♀️  Mark is Jewish and I converted before we got married, so I decorate for Hanukkah and love winter themed decor. Last year we had friends and family to celebrate with, but this year will be very different. I still wanted our tablescape to look as beautiful as it does every year, so I partnered with Macy’s to share some of these great winter decorations with you.

I like to start with my main area and decorate from there. I don’t have a link to this proxy, but I found a similar one. Then I added matching pieces to balance the table setting. I’m a fan of lots of different textures and I tend to stick to 2-3 colors so it doesn’t look overwhelming.

Hanukkah is almost here, so I wanted to share this special post with you. I’m including all of these great finds from HomeSense Canada that I used to create this gorgeous table. I am so excited to be able to make this party for my family and want to put together a bunch of Hanukkah inspired colors to go along with the festival of lights.

Ways To Decorate Your Hanukkah Table

For many, it’s just light, for me it’s the whole shebang. Bring on the latkes, dreidels, and all that goes along with eight days of celebrating the traditions that have been instilled in me since I was a child.

This holiday, according to Jewish law, has become something bigger than Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur because it is closer to Christmas. In our family, there has been a mix of religions, so we always incorporate a “Chrismukkah” element into our celebration to be thoughtful, welcoming, and inclusive.

The usual “Hanukkah tradition” is to receive gifts for eight days in a row, but we were leaning toward “one deal” since the kids are now adults with busier lives than ours. What has always been a tradition, and one of my favorite things to do, is to light the menorah candles at night. Why do we light every night for eight days? So it was with the Jewish armies after their victory. They wanted to purify the temple by burning oil in the temple for eight days. But they only had oil for one day! OY VEY. To their surprise, that small amount lasted for eight days. That is why candles and oil are used in the delicious fried food that is the symbol of this special celebration. And speaking of that….I’m sharing my mom’s latke recipe with you today!

When it comes to deciding on my Hanukkah table decorations, I like to go for a fancy table with displays of sweetness and gentleness. I used tableware in beautiful shades of indigo, paired with a vintage handmade menorah on loan from my neighbor (thanks Wendi!). Dark blue drinking glasses added a special touch to match the theme. Don’t you want to sit down and shove latkes in my face?

Hanukkah is a happy holiday – and it’s certainly not a fasting one, so that makes me even happier. You can celebrate the holidays in style with a beautiful variety of tableware from HomeSense Canada. They carry stunning pieces that work in any season and have the ability to be styled well. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this color scheme again for a summer outdoor table.

Making your tablescape more special is easy. I like to combine tradition with modern influences and throw in a little of my personal touch while staying true to the true spirit of the holiday.

One of the biggest trends of 2020, after all…so I thought it would be super fun to bring it right to my Hanukkah table. I used the $7 paint kit linked above (so easy to use, even for a newbie like me) and the $15 wire (also linked above!) to make it happen. More on this process here. At that time, the wipes were purchased from a large small business (see also above).

I can’t understand how important those gold chargers were! I got them from Michael’s and was shocked (GOBSMACKED!) at the price: about $6 for a set of six. They are shiny and remind me of chocolate jelly sheets. Amazing. I added my everyday white plates from World Market and my everyday silver flatware, and it all came together beautifully. For the napkins, I simply folded each one loosely from the long end to the pointed end, then tied each one in a big, uneven knot and placed it on the end of each plate. As you probably know because I’m talking about, oh, hourly, I love a good asymmetrical thing.
