Holiday Coffee Table Decor

Holiday Coffee Table Decor – Morning friends and happy Sunday! I know you’re a little surprised to see another post from me today, considering I rarely blog on Sundays, but to be honest I couldn’t wait a minute longer to show off our cozy front room on for Christmas! You probably know by now that patience is not something I’m really good at, so here I am! Besides, it’s fun to mix it up every now and then, right?! I’m so excited to show off this simple, vintage-inspired look that I put together in our front room. I wanted to keep things pretty neutral this year and I really love the way it turned out. It’s a little bit vintage, a little bit modern, and a lot of Christmas spirit. Grab your coffee or a delicious festive treat and let’s get there!

What says Merry Christmas better than an old vintage sleigh on your coffee table?! I actually had a completely different idea for this table, but the other day I brought the sled in and happened to put it on the coffee table while I was working on the wood. I was planning on moving it to another spot in the room, but when I saw how perfectly it fit on this table, I had to go with it. It was kind of a happy accident. I love it when that happens!

I styled this vintage kid with lots of old books, some of these cute stockings, this Christmas tree yard sign and one of my favorite buckets. I love this little corner in our front room, it’s such a fun place to decorate as the seasons change.

All my holiday pillows are from With Lavender and Grace, which you know is my favorite pillow store. I really wanted to keep my Christmas decor pretty neutral this year, so these subtle reds are perfect.

I mentioned recently that I was excited to go a different route with our Christmas decor this year, and I have to say, I really like all these neutrals. I know it doesn’t work for everyone, but they are so comforting and reassuring to me. I really like how this room came together and that sled is my favorite part! Basically, this is my place to decorate to my heart’s content, but I still make a lot of traditional Christmas decorations in the basement for the kids. We have another tree down there with all our home decorations and keepsakes, lots of red and green, and tons of other cheesy holiday decorations. It’s quite fun to have a mix of both styles this year! Everyone seems really excited about decorating for Christmas this year, and I’m no exception! I made my decorating plans and double checked them. However, I find that the coffee table sometimes takes a back seat to the decorating train. If Christmas coffee table decor is an area you’re struggling with, read on for some tips and ideas to get you started.

Styling A Coffee Table

Every month my friend Cindy from Heol y Sir 407 sends out a “mission impossible” challenge to recreate a pin from Pinterest.

We bloggers then took on the task of creating a look inspired by the original pin. Aren’t you curious to see the inspiration pin now?

Our pledge this month was Jennifer at The Grace House Interiors. Jennifer shared a lovely Christmas trip full of rustic farmhouse touches, including this vintage crate vignette.

I love the Magnolia “Chip and Jo” box with its weathered texture. The carved Christmas trees and mixed berries are perfect in their simplicity.

With Jennifer’s staples in mind, I created a similar centerpiece using items I already owned (or made). I then filled in some other interior details to get a complete coffee table look.

For my coffee table, I decided to create a trio of items, which are a little busier than usual. (I guess I’m feeling a little “over the top” with the Christmas spirit this year.)

My overall theme for the coffee table was a rustic/woodland feel, so I incorporated a lot of natural elements into my display. Let’s tackle each of them with the decorating idea I had in mind.

In the spirit of this month’s challenge, I wanted to include a box decorated for Christmas in my vignette. In a previous post, I talked about how to style a coffee table drawer decor by grouping complementary items.

This wooden box was a gift from my late mother-in-law to my husband. I love the grooves and texture of this box and the simple latch on the front.

Tip: Partially fill the box or crate with wrapping paper, newspaper or raffia to add height and stability.

After filling the box halfway, I arranged some real cedar wreath along with my trees.

I cut a new tree this year on the band my husband saw designing. The others are bought in a shop. Can you guess which one I did in the picture above?

To complete the centerpiece, I added some faux flocked pine cones, frosted berries and pine cones. So quick and easy!

You’ll notice, to draw attention to the screen, I made sure the trees were taller than the rest of the coffee table. I also repeated the same berry stems on my Christmas tree in the background.

I often find that adding a small decorative sculpture to a coffee table makes the room feel more welcoming and comfortable. My deer sculpture added the perfect finishing touch to my woodland scene.

The red decor and the books brought a little pop of color to the scene as well. A coffee table always feels complete with some literature to enjoy.

A reused Christmas table runner stood throughout the coffee table display. This helped to break up the wooden textures and complement the neutral sofas, bringing the whole piece into harmony with the living room.
