How To Decorate A Fruit Table For A Wedding – Last July one of our family members made this pineapple palm tree and we were all DYING for it. I posted it on Instagram and you guys were dying for it too! And I’ve wanted to recreate it ever since!
I can barely drive a nail into a wall and I had no plans to try stacking pineapples with poles. Sure, I can chop a lot of fruit, but could I really stack a pineapple? Who knows. It was time we found out.

The good news is that it’s a lot easier than it looks. We used garden stakes (from the hardware store, the thin ones) and bamboo skewers (yes, like the ones you’d use on a barbecue!), and those things fit perfectly.

The key is not to stack them too high! Three pineapples is the perfect height. Two would be great too. There’s no need for four (and certainly no more!) unless you’re doing a WINNING post for a wedding or party with several hundred people. You know? It will just look unbalanced.
You can glue any type of palm tree or fern (we have them at Costco) on top to create the leaves. Any fruit you like chopped at the bottom.
It’s just such a cute and fun way to display fruit at a party! No, I wouldn’t do it on a whim or for a small Sunday night party, but it would be great for your 4th.

The only downside is that you can’t assemble it in advance. Well, I have to tell you that I didn’t try to put it together beforehand because everything I found online said I shouldn’t. Since pineapple is a softer fruit, it won’t last if you try to pick it the night before.
I suggest chopping the fruit in advance and storing it in the fridge. Then, once your pineapple tree is assembled, just add the fruit!
*Don’t worry if the pineapple tree is a little crooked! Real palms are to blame! This gives them more character. Huh.

*Some suggest removing the stone from the pineapple. I didn’t core the pineapple because I thought it would make it easier to stay together. It worked well for me, but it’s hard to move once it’s set up.
*Wash and chop all fruit to the base of the tree before assembling the pineapple tree.
*Decide where you want the tree to go and place it in that location. Build it there so you don’t have to move it. Easy!

*This is actually portable! As I said above, a family member brought it to a party a few years ago. You can transport it in a large box or I prefer to fold most of it up for the party. It is enough to take chopped fruit in glass containers.
