Super Modern Living Room Coffee Table Décor Ideas That Will Amaze You
I am by no means a certified interior designer, but I have studied every resource I could find for YEARS, so I am sharing what I know. (And over the holidays, while visiting the NC mountains with my mom, I discovered these tables that I couldn’t wait to decorate anyway…)
(Did you know that 3 is the “decorating magic number”? It creates the best proportion. Seriously, try this number on anything: a mantle, a blouse, a shelf. It works. It doesn’t n number for you
This number works for “groups” as well. In the picture above, the box on top of the pile of books counts as one group.
Simplified Decorating: End Table Decor Ideas
I usually only need a set of coasters and a table lamp as essentials, and then the other pieces can be pretty decorations that don’t necessarily serve a functional purpose.
I like to include a plant in a pot or vase of flowers to add color, texture and “life” to what might otherwise be a flat vignette on a side table.
If you have two items on your table that are exactly the same height, raise one so that it varies. Stacks of books or coffee table books make great stand ups.
Affordable Coffee Table Roundup
Whenever you place shelves or tables or any kind of vignette, place the objects in a triangle shape. The “visual triangle” is a stylist’s best kept secret.
I really like the Philips Hue White bulbs. They’re not too yellow but not too white, and they work with Alexa and Google Assistant if you want to make your bulbs ‘smart’.
I love having one of these to hold odd little ends that end up on our table like loose change, jewelry, etc.
Best Glam Side Tables
Combine non-seasonal scents so you have the flexibility to use them all year round and not worry about storing them when they are out of season. Capsule margin ornamental. 😉
We usually have extra pacifiers and naked barbies in ours, but that’s only if you want your decor to show.
Not at all. It’s fine to match your living room furniture if you want, but eclectic tables in a space add that sense of curated furniture.

Hello friends! Today I’m sharing 5 tips for decorating accent tables like a pro and taking you on a little tour of our family room!
Decorating accent tables can be a little tricky. It’s all about using baskets to hold bulky items and repeating accent colors in your room to make your tables look elegant!
Coffee Table Styling Tips: How To Style A Coffee Table
Tip #1: Add a shallow basket to your TV remote table, organize your decorative touches and add texture and color to your room. Here I used a rattan basket that echoes the color of our hardwood floor (remember to echo colors in a room to give it a “designer” look!). I placed some of my decorative books that I like to go through regularly in the basket and placed a white bowl filled with moss balls on top of my books. The moss adds a lovely pop of green (I love that shade of emerald!). I also added a ceramic vase and a gold octagon paperweight.
Tip #2: Add flowers – fresh or fake! Adding flowers to your tables is a lovely way to decorate them, it adds softness and “life” to your room! This vase is a faux arrangement of tulips (I usually use fresh tulips, but my local shops were out of them at the time I shot this!). It’s perfectly fine to use fake flowers as long as they look real – and many fake flowers today are very realistic! I always like to put my vases on a book or two – it makes it look cohesive with the table.
Tip No. 3: Add two table lamps to a console table to add task lighting to a room, and add height to create a separate zone in an open house. Our family room and dining room are open concept. I created two separate zones and separated the rooms to create a cozy look by adding this console table to the back of our sectional sofa. The two crystal sconces add lighting here (there are no overhead lights) and help separate the sofa and family room from the dining area.

Tip #4: Decorate a headboard that sits against a wall with tall objects like this tall vase of marigolds. Adding a tall vase will soften that corner of the couch and pull the wall art into a group that is comfortable and inviting. If you have a tall table lamp that will work too!

Tip #5: Adding a decorative console table to a staircase wall is a great way to spruce up that awkward space! When decorating your console table, make sure nothing sticks to the ladder itself or it will be knocked over! Add a vase of blooming branches or flowers, hold a piece of art, and add a basket or two to the lower console shelf to store cushions and throws! Make sure you use two smaller baskets or one longer basket to fill the shelf space.

I added an upholstered parsons chair (with cushion and throw) and garden stool to our stairs to create a cozy nook – the chair and garden stool can be removed when extra seating and an extra table is needed for company!
