How To Decorate Wood Tables – To wrap up my last Merry and Bright Decorating blog post for the season, I want to show you what I’ve been up to in my dining room and give you easy ideas for fun and bright dining table decorations. I wanted this room to look a little more ‘adult’ since it’s a formal dining room, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money decorating it. Overall, the room is very easy to put together, and I try to keep it simple for weekly meals because I have a Bible study.

For my table decorations this year I actually used the same tablecloth that is usually in the room. (For full dining room details, check out this blog post!). I then tied the candle sticks and decorated with a bed of fresh greenery from Trader Joe’s. Once everything was down, I carefully placed a few extra ornaments that didn’t fit on my tree (bless it’s 17 months old) on top of the greenery. I love how the end result is simple yet elegant.

For the rest of the room I did some very simple touches. I never change shelves much unless necessary because they are small enough that they look the most neutral to me. I added these little deer to the top of the cabinet, and they usually have the more traditional ‘sash’ I added last year, but I replaced them with some pink tassels and poms. I love the little pop of pink they added in the corner. Otherwise I just added our little dining room tree which I love!!

I had trouble getting the tree into the basket until a friend of mine, Jamie (who has a great blog – check it out!) suggested I take the tree out of its seat, shove a pillow around it and then cover it with a blanket – or in this case Cloth.
