Matric Farewell Table Decorations – The Girls’ College Matric Dance was held on Saturday 7th May 2022. The theme was Ancient Greece and every student looked like they belonged in heaven. The Dace Hall was decorated from floor to ceiling with effigies and lights.
Guests arrived as the sun set and were greeted by a crowd of cheering students who were all excited to see their idols dressed in gorgeous attire. After entering the hall and casting the scenery, they were invited to take pictures and were taken outside to sign the canvas, drink sparkling grape juice and take in the view. Before entering the hall for the official event, the guests were offered various cakes and desserts.

On Saturday, July 28, 158 seniors gathered outside the ICC to celebrate in style the unique bond they share – the brothers of DHS.
A red carpet leading from Walnut Road to the terrace area welcomed the newlyweds and their partners, who were treated like celebrities. Professional photographers were on hand to capture their grand arrival; while our hosts of the evening, Mr. and Ms. Pinheiro, greeted each guest with a handshake and warm smile.

Everyone was captivated by the theme of Paris: C’est La Vie – this is life. Each table was covered with a black or gold tablecloth, with gold under plates, silver and black napkins. In keeping with the theme, each outdoor table was centered around a golden Eiffel Tower wrapped in golden fairy lights, and the indoor tables featured a glass dome covering a Parisian bicycle, a bottle of Chanel perfume, the Eiffel Tower, a pillar lamps and black color. pearls. The change in lighting complemented the color of the table. It was placed on a glass base with the inscription C’est La Vie on the side. Each of the boys’ napkin rings were custom made from a gold Eiffel Tower that served as a holder for their silver Class of 2018 rings. Each young lady received a handmade pearl bracelet with a silver charm of The Eiffel Tower.
A well-lit black and gold 3D board of Paris was strategically placed at the edge of the dance floor. The evening started with Mr. Pinheiro wishing everyone a wonderful evening.
Deceased Matric Pupils Remembered
Jonathan Evans did a great job as Master of Ceremonies and Zach Adams made everyone feel really nostalgic as he took us on the journey of the Class of 2018 as a group. Several “paper plate” prizes were then handed out. The reason for such prices is known only to the students themselves. The Conor McGregor award went to Bandile Khuzwayo, Cirilo Sebastio won the best foreign import award, Krishna Rajput won the best haircut award, while the Best and Most Memorable Smile award went to Sbonelo Mbambo. Yoreshan Pillay won Best Eyebrow, Asanda Mnguni won Odd Shaped Head, Moletshe Lwazi won AJ Human and Monde Mqadi won Salesperson of the Year. The Most Likely to Complain award went to Cameron Naidoo and last but not least the Picture of the Year award went to Brytson Boekhoud.
Blose Melokhule and his partner wowed guests with their ballroom dance moves. What a surprise! Little did they know Bloze could actually dance!
After Ethan Mack offered a toast and all the key figures were thanked and introduced, everyone enjoyed a wonderful buffet, followed by ice cream cones with a variety of toppings, as well as melt-in-your-mouth chocolate brownies filled with cream. Chantilly. .

Iris’ The Goo Goo Dolls saw Zak, Ethan and Celimpilo and their partners perform the opening dance. Soon all the other couples joined them on the dance floor. The celebrations and dancing continued until the last song played at midnight with the entire Matric body together on the dance floor. Hundreds of photographs were taken throughout the evening.
One thing that was evident throughout the evening was the strong sense of unity and brotherhood in this group. Everyone celebrated the last time together with laughter and joy. I’m sure many, if not all, realized that night marked the end of a school career with that particular group of friends.
