Primitive Decorative Designs For A Kitchen Table – Since our post last week about our new dining room chairs [here] I’ve gotten TONS of great questions about the great primitive pieces of furniture in our dining room. I got it.. because I like it too. I spotted it at the Heritage Trunk Co. booth. right when we moved into the farmhouse and i knew i had it. I paid a pretty penny for it [worth it], drove long distances to get it [worth it], and loaded and unloaded this beast twice from our trailer [worth it]. Some pieces are just worth it. It is 6ftx8ft and actually two pieces which is nice. There’s branding everywhere that says it’s from the “Grand Rapids Shoe Company”, which is really cool because we love our hometown of Grand Rapids so much here in their gloves. All the paint and glass are original which is also a rare find…
Seriously, every time I look at it I can’t believe it’s in our house. Our floors are still a bit wonky so excuse the paint pads we have under the piece to keep it.. keep it classy here. I started to style the piece a bit, but it was a challenge to decorate around the construction. I do not plan on painting or doing anything in this part because it is very perfect in my eyes. The doors and drawers work an 8 out of 10 which is great in my book for a primitive piece and I plan to store food items in the lower half such as napkins, tablecloths and the like. As well as looking absolutely fantastic, it will also be a functional piece.
