In this season full of festivals and celebrations, the patinated table of elegance moves at home. Today I’m sharing a table that I designed for New Year’s Eve, but it will be at home for any fancy party.

Like most of my boards, there are elements that are undeniably cool, but the presentation is anything but packed. I try hard to avoid the prescribed arrangement of formal china with matching serving pieces.

It’s not that I don’t like formal tables, but I find the creative approach much more interesting. Of course, you don’t need me to show you how to place an entire set of china on the table.

Instead, I like to share a more unique perspective that may not follow exactly, but may inspire ideas for your own vision.

Dining Table Decor: Lighting, Plants, & More

These beautiful heart shaped salad plates with a silver zebra print are from the amazing tableware and gift brand Annieglass. Also from Annieglass, these platinum edged dinner plates are perfect for collecting, mixing and matching with other items.

I used sophisticated tableware for the plates, but instead of one set, I mixed it with mixed vintage pieces.

If you’ve inherited a few sets from your parents or grandparents, this is a great way to update your look. It’s a great solution for missing or half-set items, or simply using unique items you fell in love with at the antique store and couldn’t live without.

While my color palette for this table is almost entirely silver and white, I chose a touch of lilac and lavender to add a nice pop of color.

These little colors are just enough to keep a beautiful winter table from looking too “one tone”. You will find the color primarily in floral patterns, but it also appears in classic linen napkins.

Best Table Decorating Ideas For Every Occasion

The main centerpiece is a pretty bouquet of purple roses, cream flowers and pale green Queen Anne lace. The flowers are kept in a silver champagne bucket, which is the main container of the silver decorated table.

I chose a pair of vintage silver candelabras to line the center of the table and leave space between the flowers. They add a candlelit atmosphere and wonderful charm. Glass rattles are scattered at their feet to enhance the effect of the warm candlelight.

I kept it really simple with the glassware, preferring to let the other elements shine, so I went with beautifully cut crystal stems for the wine glasses and champagne flutes and left it at that.

Lavender And White Easter Tablescape

I had space at the end of the table for plates, so I decided to juxtapose the sophistication of the silverware with the rustic charm of a vintage wooden cutting board.

I’m not a fan of heavy plates on the tables, but this is a great little basket that tempts me with simple desserts.

I often like to spread out my flowers on the table, and in this case I placed some accent flowers near the outer ends. Only a few strands of iris and lisianthus squeeze into the narrow openings of the cut crystal jugs.

All the components of the table come together to convey the theme of silver and glass with a hint of purple. Elegant yet modern, spacious yet dignified, and perfect for a festive gathering!
