My youngest daughter Olivia turns 7 today. How can my BABY be 7 years old?! Over the weekend we celebrated with a fun SpongeBob SquarePants birthday party. It’s full of family and friends, crab burgers, pineapple decorations, balloons, Bubble Buddies, and lots of laughs! And of course our favorite characters! Without further ado, check out the party I made, as usual, on a budget! A free print is available at the bottom of this post.

If you’ve checked out my other parties, you know I’ll be setting up a fun themed table:

The star of the show is the amazing SpongeBob cake made by a local baker. This cake not only looks amazing, it’s also one of the tastiest cakes we’ve ever eaten. The devil is in the details and in the cake, we were surprised by the fun yellow and pink pattern! He even puts together a tutorial if you like cake:

I made the Krusty Krab restaurant using a friend’s lobster cage. For the front flag, I created it in Illustrator and printed it on card stock. I used my Cricut to cut out the shell and letters for the Crab Crab sign. Broken butterfly nets are used for poles.

Then check out these amazing crab burgers! I really wish this was my idea but they are literally my friend Krista’s creation and they are a hit of the party! Seriously, everyone loves these things. The step by step recipe will be out soon, courtesy of Krista.

How awesome are these paper lantern jellyfish? They’re super easy to make with paper lanterns and ribbon, and they’re pretty cheap too. Perfect for underwater themed parties:

Did you notice those little bags of sweets? Olivia helped me do this and I love how it turned out. We bought a box of yellow popcorn and used a Sharpie pen to draw facial features. Wide-eyed fixated in place, along with two teeth, which were cut out of plain white paper. I filled it with SpongeBob-themed party favors like blow balloons, whoopie pillows, kazoos, and lollipops. I also made some “Make Your Own Bubble Buddy” labels for the bubbles.

For another table of food, I filled the bucket with fruit and chips. I made Jello Jigglers using a SpongeBob kit I found at the local supermarket.

Plankton Pretzel Sticks are another easy recipe and they turn out to be delicious. They were placed in a “Bucket Chum” which I matched my Cricut and vinyl.

I also made a Bikini Bottom banner and sign which was just styrofoam and a ribbon garland. Using my Cricut Explore, I cut out the letters from the “Bikini Front” and hot glued them into place. I used the 3M Command Strip to hang it for parties and then easily removed it!

Tablecloths, plates, cups, napkins, SpongeBob Lollipops and SpongeBob Pinata are from Oriental Trading. Another SpongeBob themed item for the goodie bag comes from the Party City party shop. Both have decent choices for a SpongeBob party theme.

I also have a dozen balloons and a “Free Balloon Day” sign. All the kids loved getting balloons to take home.

Lastly, we had the SpongeBob Pinata filled with all sorts of delicious treats! And I believe all the kids have fun!

There’s another idea that I completely forgot to execute and I’m kicking myself right now! I have a large furniture box that I plan to put up an “Imagination” sign and put a bookmark in and let the kids play. I don’t know how I completely forgot about it on the day of the party, but I knew it would be a success.
